Thought of the day......

People's attitudes hey? This morning was just another school morning for us with the girls getting organised for school and heading off for the bus. While they wait for their school bus, they run! Up and down the street, weaving, racing, running. All lit up in the glow of the morning sun with huge smiles on their faces. I would like to think they get the 'joy of running' bug from me.

I was watching the girls this morning, sharing their joy, albeit from the lounge room window. Then was snapped out of my 'proud mummy' daze with "Oi! What are you two doing?" The kids from an earlier bus were also waiting for their ride to their school. My girls simultaneously answer "ah... running!".... There was a pause, followed by a bewildered "Why?" As if what they were doing wasn't obvious, WHY they were doing it should have been!

Anyhow... It just got me thinking.... These kids think fun and enjoyment is wrecking my front garden, annoying other kids, throwing rocks at passing cars and terrorising the neighbourhood pets. Just to name a few things they get up to while waiting for their bus. Makes me so sad to see attitudes like this in kids so young.

You know what else? I have an awful lot of trouble with the two aforementioned children who happen to be the most outrageously competitive set of twins EVER! But a moment like this makes me think, I'm not doing too badly, and perhaps they are learning more from me than I realised.

Sorry for the rambling. It was just one of those moments, and I had to write about it.
