Playing with clay!!

So I dug up some nice chunks of clay and made myself a little bowl. It was a weirdly spiritual experience for me. I can't even describe why or how I did it. Just felt strangely compelled. Lol!

The hubby dug up a bucketful more, and would you believe he made me a pottery wheel?? 

We think if it will be something I will use, then maybe in the future we can get a big fancy new one!! Lol I'm sure he will be able to build me a nice size kiln too! But we will be needing a little more space for that!  Anyway, here are my very crude bits and pieces. (I like to call them "cavemen crocks"!)

This was some air dry clay I bought! Hate it. Feels like plastic. 

I really liked the idea of hand moulding/ building also, so I have tried some raku clay my sister bought for me, I was attempting to make a griffin, for my hubby. Mystical creatures are kind of his thing. 

I really wasn't happy with it, so it has been turned into some hand built soap dishes, and some soon to be ceramic buttons and beads!! Very cool! As you can see some have worked, some are a little sad.

Clay really is a beautiful thing. Having my hands dirty makes me happy! I have so much to learn, but with practice, I hope to be able to post something a little less humorous, and a whole lot more beautiful!! :))
